The MonaLisa Touch is an innovative laser designed by Cynosure, already with significant backing in the US. Able to pulse faster than a tenth of a second, it can stimulate new healthy cell growth and promote natural lubrication. The North American Menopause Society (NAMS) estimates that 20-45% of women experience vaginal dryness, vaginal atrophy, irritation during sexual intercourse and symptoms of genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM). Additionally, the MonoLisa Touch can also help people with urinary incontinence by tightening the vaginal muscles, meaning patients gain far better bladder control.
Juvea is one of the first clinics in the UK beginning to use the MonaLisa Touch after being available in many US clinics since 2014. Our clinic is located on Harley Street, a well-known high-class area for cosmetics in London. With the MonaLisa Touch, we hope to provide the resources to women who regularly suffer from vaginal discomfort. In extreme cases, it can help women who have had a hysterectomy, either as a choice or from cervical cancer.
Created in Italy by Cynosure, the MonaLisa Touch uses fractional CO2 laser energy directly stimulating the vaginal areas. By gently acting on the inner walls of the vagina, called the endometrium — the creation of micro-lesions triggers a process called necollagenesis, stimulating the production of a hormone called collagen. Collagen plays a crucial role in the enhanced release of mucus, involved in natural lubrication. Triggering the tissue regeneration process lasts for several weeks, with initial improvements seen immediately after the first treatment.
Vaginal discomfort is an extremely uncomfortable experience, mainly caused by a lack of lubrication. Following MonaLisa treatments, the mucosa tissue becomes more nourished and hydrated. By re-calibrating the natural vaginal pH, this protects the vagina from harmful micro-organisms and chronic irritation. Unlike other invasive treatments, MonaLisa takes a few minutes and is without severe pain. However, you might experience some mild discomfort, and after the procedure, we do recommend that you avoid having sexual intercourse for a few days.
By stimulating the release of collagen, it helps reverse the effects of vaginal atrophy, improving the overall tightness of the vagina canal. Therefore, this makes it easier for you to choose when to release your bladder appropriately.
At Juvea, we are only ever here to provide the right information for you; then the decision to get treatment lies with you. In other cases, it benefits women who have had a hysterectomy, irritation during sexual intercourse and menopausal symptoms.
