Dermal Fillers – Chin Augmentation
Dermal Fillers for Chin Augmentation
Many of us may have that one facial feature we wish was a little bit different and given that our face is the first thing a stranger will notice about us, it can make a person feel very self-conscious. It may be that you feel as though your chin is small, weak or looks under-developed and you would prefer a more pronounced look. Undertaking cosmetic surgery is a serious decision that may involve a chin implant, or bone, tissue or fat grafting and can pose risks such as the implant moving or infection.
But did you know that non-surgical dermal fillers can be used to improve the definition and shape of features such as the chin?
At Juvea Aesthetics London, our expert practitioners will first consult you to determine the aesthetic goals you would like to achieve and then choose for you the best dermal filler to suit your needs. After talking through the procedure and aftercare, A numbing cream or local anaesthetic can be applied and the filler can then be injected with a fine needle into the required areas to contour, add volume or correct any asymmetry to the chin area and help create the look you desire.
We only use the safest Hyluaronic Acid-based dermal fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane and Teosyal, which are made from natural substances so re-absorbed by the body over time and pose little chance of an allergic reaction. The treatment will take around half an hour and is relatively painless as some fillers contain an anaesthetic, but as previously mentioned we can also apply a local anaesthetic or numbing cream beforehand. After the procedure, there may be some swelling to the area and your chin may feel tender for about 3-5 days but this is minimal and will soon subside. As with any injectable treatment, there is a small risk of injection, but during your consultation with a Juvea practitioner, you will be informed of any aftercare tips on how to avoid this. These will include avoiding hot baths, showers, saunas and strenuous exercise, as well as alcohol for four to six hours after the procedure.
The great thing about dermal fillers is how quickly they get to work! You will notice an improvement in the shape and projection of the chin immediately, and after the initial swelling has reduced within a week you should see the final results. Depending on the type and amount of filler used, the results of this particular treatment can last anywhere from 6 months to one year, although to maintain the look we advised our clients to return for a top-up every year.

As we use Hyluaronic Acid-based fillers, the results are long-lasting but temporary and can last anywhere between 6 months to a year depending on the individual. After this period, to keep the look that you are so pleased with, repeat injections or top-ups may be required to maintain the shape and volume.
