Our Top Ten Tips for Staying Hydrated!
Even though proper hydration helps our bodies to maintain temperature, remove waste, moisturise our skin, lubricate our joints and even maintain proper brain function; studies have shown that over 60% of Brits don’t drink the recommended daily amount of 2 to 2.5 litres of water. We’re here to help, though. We’ve come up with ten top tips to help you up your water intake – your body will thank you.
1. Let’s Get Fizz-icle!
Everyone knows bubbles are more fun, so why not switch out still water for sparkling? It has the same fizzy hit as a soft-drink, but is much more tooth-friendly!
2. Buy a Reusable Water Bottle
We might be preaching to the converted, but having a reusable water bottle on hand means you can quickly and easily up your water intake wherever you are. Having it on your desk works as a visual reminder to keep sipping, and it’s better for the environment than single-use bottles.
3. Embrace Herbal Teas
Tea and coffee are great ways to boost your fluid intake, but all that caffeine can lead to a distinctly wired feeling. The solution? Herbal tea! Flavourful and a lot of the time naturally caffeine free, these are the perfect replacement for that tall double shot americano with none of the jitters.
4. Get Infusing
We’re big fans of infused water at the Juvea Aesthetics Office, with Rose Lemonade, Raspberry and Cranberry, and Apple Cucumber all favourites. Just drop one of these infuser bags into your water bottle for a hint of fruity sweetness – we’re sure you’ll become as addicted as us!
5. Eat Your H20
Fruits and vegetables with high water content like cucumbers, melon, grapes, berries or tomatoes count towards your daily water intake – all the excuse you need to pile that salad bowl high at lunchtime.
6. Use Technology To Track Your Water Intake
If you’ve ever realised at 9pm that you’ve only drank half of your daily water requirement, then reminders throughout the day could be handy. Apps are available on iOS and Android that will give you the nudge you need to keep sipping!
7. Are You Hungry or Are You Thirsty?
There’s only one way to find out! Try drinking a glass of water when you’re feeling snacky – it will help you figure out whether you’re feeling true hunger.
8. Replace Other Drinks With Water
We get it, water can be a little boring, but it’s much better for us than soft drinks or even fruit juice which can be packed with tooth-decaying sugar! Of course, everything is fine in moderation, but if you’re reaching for soft drinks throughout the day, it may be time to make the switch.
9. Have a Glass of Water Before Bed and On Waking
This is a super simple way to boost your water intake, and even better will help prevent a dry mouth during the night and help wake you up in the morning.
10. Ice Ice Baby
Not only will ice make your water even more refreshing, but as it melts, it can add over 100mls of water to your drink!
And there you have it! 10 simple ways to boost your water intake – you’ll be healthy and hydrated in no time.
