FAQs
What are fillers?
Dermal fillers are a type of aesthetic treatment, injected directly into the skin with a fine needle to boost its volume, define contours, smooth out wrinkles and give an overall look of rejuvenation.
At Juvea Medical, the fillers we use are based on hyaluronic acid, a natural substance produced in the body which controls the balance of nutrients and moisture in the skin. Although hyaluronic acid-based fillers do not last as long as permanent ones, we believe that the dissolvable products we use such as Restylane, Teosyal and Juvederm enable reliable, safe and reproducible results that our patients like- no need to be worried about ‘trout pout’ here! The effects of treatments will often last from 6 to 9 months, so they are long-lasting.
What can fillers do for me?
Fillers help to smooth and fill lines and static deep wrinkles, as well as to volumise and define lips and augment the chin, nose, cheeks, and chin. With treatment, you’ll look more youthful and fresh faced for around a year. There are different ranges to work at different levels in the skin, from correcting sun damage, to a non-surgical mid face-lift.
How do they work?
Youthful skin is rich in hyaluronic acid (HA): a substance that binds water, hydrates the skin and promotes all- important softness and fullness. However, as we age, our HA gradually becomes less efficient which leads to the loss of natural elasticity and youthful volume.
The type of fillers we use at Juvea Medical is made from Stabilised Non-Animal Hyaluronic Acid gel (NASHA). When injected into the skin, it gives nature a helping hand. Dermal filler boosts the skin’s hydration system, stimulates the production of collagen, restores youthful volume by supporting the skin’s structure to delay the signs of ageing and encourages the production of healthy, glowing skin.
Are they safe?
The beauty of the type of fillers used at Juvea Medical ( Restylane, Juviderm and Teosyal) is that their safety and efficacy is clinically proven and this is what sets them apart from other injectable treatments.
What are the benefits of fillers?
The dermal filler is injected in tiny quantities using a fine needle. It can be used to soften lines, add fullness and boost condition and tone. The procedure takes about 20-30 minutes and the recovery time is minimal.
Who will be doing my treatment?
The treatment will be administered by a specialist clinician after a thorough consultation to determine which type of filler is best to suit your individual needs. They will also go through any contra-indications for fillers.
Does this treatment hurt?
You may experience some mild discomfort when having a dermal filler injection, but a topical anaesthetic can be applied beforehand to numb the area and provide a more comfortable treatment. The lip area is very sensitive, so we usually recommend applying a numbing cream before your lip enhancement treatment. Your practitioner will apply this in the clinic prior to treatment.
When will I see results?
The great thing about dermal filler injections is that you will be able to see the results immediately, though it can take up to 48 hours to see the full effect.
What downtime will I need afterwards?
This depends on the type of treatment you have, but overall downtime is minimal. It is worth bearing in mind, though, that you may have minor swelling so best to avoid a treatment the day before a special occasion. You should have treatment about 2 weeks before any big events.
