Botox Treatment for Men
Botox Treatment for Men London
Being concerned about appearance is not just for women! These days, there are shelves in most supermarkets and chemists stacked with skincare products specifically aimed at men. It will come as no surprise then that recent research shows that one in every three clients currently choosing muscle-relaxing anti-wrinkle treatments in the UK is male.
Your face is the first thing that people will notice about you and as you become older, the appearance of deep frown lines caused by your lifestyle, work habits or stress may give you an aged or unfriendly look. This may cause you to lose self-confidence; especially when you feel under pressure to keep up with younger workers ready to take your place in the office, or if you find yourself back on the dating scene after a divorce.
Here at Juvea Aesthetics, our expert clinicians are on hand to help to erase those worry lines and signs of ageing by coming up with a treatment plan to best suit your aesthetic needs. Our muscle relaxant Botulinum Toxin (or ‘Botox’ as it is more commonly known) can eliminate a number of problem areas including crow’s feet (wrinkles around the eyes), forehead lines, glabella (between the eyes), and if you are a smoker; even those so-called ‘smoker’s lines’ around the mouth area.
So here’s how it works
A fine needle is used to inject the Botox, a pure protein, into the facial muscles to be treated. This then blocks the nerve signals from your brain to the muscles, inhibiting their contraction therefore giving the skin a smooth appearance. The procedure is very quick and will be over in a matter of minutes. At worst, some minor discomfort may be felt but most clients find it relatively painless.
Any side effects
Any side effects that may occur are usually only temporary and linked to the injections themselves; such as mild to moderate tenderness, redness or swelling. In rare cases, a slight drooping of the eyelid or ‘brow ptosis’ may occur, but again is temporary and reversible. Though Botox is a very safe treatment, our experienced clinicians will advise you of these side effects and post-treatment care in further detail prior to treatment.
The great thing about Botox
The great thing about Botox is that there is no anaesthetic required and no down time- you really can have it done in your lunch break and be back to the boardroom straight after! Results can be noticed within a few days of treatment, although the full effects can take around two weeks to be seen. The effects can last up to four months, but we recommend regular repeat treatments to maintain them for longer.
Also, you may be interested in Botox for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)- another one of our treatments at Juvea Aesthetics which is popular with men.

As we use Hyluaronic Acid-based fillers, the results are long-lasting but temporary and can last anywhere between 6 months to a year depending on the individual. After this period, to keep the look that you are so pleased with, repeat injections or top-ups may be required to maintain the shape and volume.
Frequently Asked Questions
Botox is not just for women. The principle of the treatment is exactly the same as botox injections placed at specific points in the muscles in order to relax them therefore reducing wrinkles in the forehead, between the eyebrows and crows feet- the only difference being that the dose is higher than used for most women.

Q. How does Botox treatment work?
A. Botulinum Toxin (Botox ®), when injected into a muscle temporarily, relaxes the muscle by blocking nerve impulses. As the nerve impulses are blocked the muscle is temporarily unable to contract so that dynamic wrinkles are not formed. This gives the overlying facial skin a softer, smoother and more youthful appearance.
Q. Is Botox treatment safe?
A. Botulinum Toxin as a muscle relaxant has an excellent safety record and a long record of use in medicine. It has been used successfully in adults and children in variety medical conditions over the last 20 years. Q.Who can have Botox?
A. Botox Treatment can be used for treating wrinkles in men and women, however, men often need slightly higher doses than women.
Q. Does the injection hurt?

Q. How Long Do The Effects Last?
A. It can take about 2-14 days to see the full effects after the initial treatment. The cosmetic effects can last up to six months but typically range from three to four months. Eventually, most people require re-treatment as the wrinkles reappear. However, in some treated areas (such as frown wrinkles), the wrinkles may return less severe after repeated treatments as the unconscious muscle contraction habit is broken.
Q. Are there any side effects?
A. Most people find that the injections cause only mild local pain and tenderness. Immediately after the injection, there may be mild swelling at the injection site which usually subsides within 48 hours. Slight bruising is also possible. Side effects of these treatments are extremely rare. Occasionally, the treatment may relax nearby muscle groups causing temporary drooping of the eyebrow or eyelids. This may last for a few weeks but will resolve with time. As with any medicine, an allergic reaction may occur, this is however quite rare. There may be some unintended benefits in some people such as easing of tension-type headaches as the muscles in the forehead relax.
Q. How Often can I have treatments?
A. When the effect of the Botox injection wears off the wrinkles will always return to their pre-treatment state. Treatments can be repeated to a minimum of three monthly intervals, but the effects may last longer for some individuals, especially if they have had previous treatments to the same area.
Q. Will I still have expression in my face?
A. Botox treatments are designed to smooth dynamic wrinkles in the forehead and around eyes, they do not affect your facial expression. The final result can be tailored to each patient and can be discussed at the initial free consultation
