Frequently Asked Questions

  • + How do I choose my new size?

Breast size usually measured as bra-size is not a good indication to estimate your final size. Generally, every 125-150cc of implant volume equates to an increase in single cup size. Each client is different, but upon discussion, we can help you reach your end-result expectations.

  • + Will my procedure be painful?

During your surgery, you will be given general anaesthesia, meaning you are asleep throughout the entire process. After the operation, it is normal to feel exhausted and exhibit some bruising to the breasts. However, we can moderate your pain with medications and depending on your circumstances; you may have to stay overnight in a hospital.

  • + Am I eligible for breast augmentation?

At your consultation, we will perform a thorough examination and review your medical history. We take note of your family history, current medical diagnoses, and if you are using any medications. If there is any reason for us that suggests you are not suitable for breast augmentation, we consult other specialist doctors to determine any surgical risks.

  • + What is the effect of smoking on my breast implants?

Nicotine restricts blood vessels, reducing the amount of oxygen able to pass through your body and breasts. If you smoke around the surgery, this increases your risk of wound-healing problems. We may require you to be nicotine-free for a few weeks before and after the surgery. Although we believe in smoking cessation long-term, you may return to smoking after healing if you desire.

  • + When will I be able to return to work?

We usually advise that you wait 1-2 weeks off work to recover and abstain from intense physical labour during the healing process. For example, lifting anything too heavy may aggravate the position of the implant.

  • + Should I wait until I am done having children before a mastectomy

Pregnancy changes the size and shape of a woman’s breast if she decides to have implants or not. However, we do recommend you postpone pregnancy for at least six months after surgery.
